oUR PRIVACY POLICY

At the Taste Collective, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you take part in research activities with us, including taste tests, focus groups, interviews and online communities.

Who we are

We are The Taste Collective, a UK-based consumer research panel dedicated to gathering consumer insights through fun, engaging, and rewarding research. Our research activities help shape the future of food and drink.

What information we collect

When you join The Taste Collective or participate in one of our research activities, we may collect:

  • Contact details (e.g. your name, email address, social media handle if you respond to social posts and, where necessary, your phone number should we need to contact you directly)

  • Demographic data (e.g. age, gender, location, dietary preferences)

  • Feedback and opinions shared during research

  • Recordings (if you're taking part in an online session with your camera on)

  • Incentive details (e.g. email for online voucher delivery, home address for hampers)

We only collect the information necessary to match you to relevant research and to conduct that research effectively.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Invite you to relevant research opportunities via email or social media

  • Carry out research sessions (in-person or online)

  • Send out incentives such as online vouchers

  • Analyse consumer opinions for research reporting (all data is anonymised in reporting)

How we contact you

We’ll reach out via:

  • Email, using the details you provided when joining the panel

  • Social media, if you’ve engaged with us or responded to recruitment posts

You can opt out of communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in our emails.

How we protect your data

Your data is stored securely, and we follow all applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We never sell your personal data. Any data shared with clients is anonymised, unless you give explicit permission otherwise.

Camera on policy

For certain projects (such as online interviews or group discussions), we require that cameras are switched on to ensure quality engagement. These sessions may be recorded for research purposes, but we’ll always let you know in advance and ask for your consent where required.

Please note that if you fail to switch your camera on or participate to a sufficient level, the Taste Collectors reserve the right to remove you from the session and, if necessary, withhold any incentive.

Taster quotes

On occasion, we may share quotes or feedback from our community members with our clients. When doing so, we will ask for your consent prior and only use your first name to ensure that you remain anonymous and unidentifiable.

Incentives

For certain projects, we offer online voucher incentives as a thank you for taking part. These are sent via email after participation and depend on specific eligibility and completion requirements set for each project. For other projects, you may be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a reward. For full terms and conditions, please visit here.

The Taste Collective and our researchers comply to MRS (Market Research Society) standards and regulations which can be found here.
